Ronaldas Racinskas, Executive Director of the International Historical Commission, participated at the ICHEIC international forum which was organized by Yad Vashem, The Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority, on 14th – 18th of February. Holocaust education program coordinators and experts from all over Europe participated in this forum. R. Racinskas made a presentation about the history curriculum development and preparation of school textbooks in Lithuania and how Holocaust topic is reflected in these textbooks.

During the visit, Mr Racinskas also met with the head of Yad Vashem Directorate Avner Shalev, the head of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs of anti-Semitism and Holocaust Remembrance Department Aviva Raz Shechter, and Ambassador David Peleg.

The activity of the International Historical Commission in the field of Holocaust researches, education and commemorations has been positively evaluated in all meetings; on the other hand some problems that needed to be solved were also pointed out. In the meetings was also discussed very sensitive issue of research and evaluation of the crimes of the Nazi and Communist regimes and relationship between these two topics. The participants of the meetings from both sides were unanimous that any simplistic attempts to equalize Nazi and Soviet-Communist crimes under umbrella of totalitarianism are not acceptable, because any equalization of these regimes might diminish importance of these separate phenomena. Each of them have their own history, criminal ideology and crimes committed. They can and should be addressed on their own rights, researched and evaluated.
