As Lithuania’s Independence Restoration Day approached, many Lithuanian educational institutions joined the civic initiative “Living Flower of the Nation.”The idea behind this initiative is to creatively use the colors of the Lithuanian flag, to form a composition of participants dressed in different-colored clothing or various details and symbols, thereby commemorating a date of great importance to Lithuania and sharing a photo of the creative outcome. This idea is a fun initiative that promotes civic engagement and pride.
This year, 175 educational institutions joined the initiative: schools, nurseries, and non-formal education institutions.
The “Living Flower of the Nation” initiative, intended to commemorate Lithuanian Independence Restoration Day, was launched in 2014. This civic initiative is proposed annually to educational institutions by the International Commission in collaboration with the creators of the idea, the Kastytis Ramanauskas Nursery-Kindergarten in Panevėžys.
