Historian Saulius Sužiedėlis introduced a new book on the Holocaust in Lithuania

On June 17, a new book by historian and professor Saulius Sužiedėlis was premiered in Vilnius.

 

The event took place at the Lithuanian National Martynas Mažvydas Library on June 17 and was addressed to diplomats, politicians, academics, and the educational community. Professor Saulius Sužiedėlis, historian, chairman of the Sub-Commission on the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi Occupation Regimes and the Holocaust under the International Commission, presented his new book “Crisis, War, and the Holocaust in Lithuania”. The book is the first scholarly study of Lithuania during the Second World War written in English, using previously unavailable archives and scholarly publications published in Lithuania in the post-war period. It is awaiting translation into Lithuanian for use by Lithuanian educators.

The book launch was organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Historical Institute, in cooperation with the Embassy of Israel and the Secretariat of the International Commission.
