Meeting of the coordinators of the international project ‘IMAGINE’ in Berlin.

A meeting of the coordinators of the international project “IMAGINE” took place in Berlin in mid-May.

Representatives from the seven countries involved in the project attended the meeting. The concept for the project was developed by Centropa, which brought together representatives from various countries. The international project focuses on the lives and destinies of Jewish women in different European countries during the 20th century.

The project coordinators met to discuss implementation phases, cooperation, and dissemination opportunities as well as other issues. Ingrida Vilkienė, Education Programme Coordinator of the International Commission, said she was glad to have met her colleagues from other countries in person, as the project will be implemented in different European countries, but the activities must be similar and the project’s outcome must also be consistent. As the project relates to 20(th)-century historical events, Centropa representatives proposed broadening historical knowledge in Berlin through visits to the former Jewish quarter, the museum about the German capitulation in May 1945, historical sites relating to the division of Berlin after the Second World War, and East Berlin’s history.

The “Imagine” project will be implemented over a period of two years. The planned activities will involve university students and upper secondary school pupils. The International Commission Secretariat is participating in this project with partners from Greece, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Hungary, and Germany. The project is funded by the European Commission.
