Ahead of the Day of Mourning and Hope, all educational institutions, teachers, and education specialists in Lithuania were invited to join the civic initiative “Apples Don’t Grow in Siberia” and to organize activities commemorating the deportation of Lithuanian residents, their experiences, and their losses. The organizers invite everyone to create the initiative’s symbols—apples—and use them at the events and commemorations they organize.
