A lecture for teachers about the Jewish education system

On April 8, Lithuanian teachers and museum staff participated in dr. Lara Lempertienė’s lecture “Golden Torah Chain: From Birth to Death”.

Dr.Lara Lempertienė’s lecture was focusing on the introduction to Jewish religious teaching. This educational system was quite widespread until the beginning of the 20th century in Lithuanian towns and townships, where Jewish communities resided. The lecturer gave vivid examples about a child’s participation in the education system from the age of 2.5 – 3. Speaking about educating children in the community, Lara Lempertienė also mentioned adult education, discussing examples from small shtetls in Lithuania. According to the lecturer, dr. Lara Lempertienė, “in the Jewish community, the criterion of a person’s evaluation has always been education.” This lecture introduced participants to the principles of Jewish religious education, which contribute to a better understanding of the Jewish nation’s traditions, mentality, and world outlooks.

Fifty-two teachers and museum staff attended the lecture. The event was organized online.
