On the morning of January 13, candles of remembrance, unity, and victory were lit throughout Lithuania and in some foreign countries.
In 2026, the civic initiative “Light of Victory” was supported by about 1,000 educational and other institutions. This is an annual civic initiative that has been taking place since 2008. It was initially called “Memory Lives On Because It Testifies” and was held in Lithuanian schools. However, over time, other institutions such as nurseries, kindergartens, libraries, regional museums, cultural centers, health clinics, hospitals, police stations, ministries, and Lithuanian embassies abroad began to join the initiative actively.
