Lithuania observes March 11 with the civic initiative “The Living Flower of the Nation”

On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence – March 11, 1990 – 288 Lithuanian educational institutions (schools, kindergartens, etc.) joined the organized civic initiative “The Living Flower of the Nation.”

The International Commission and the authors of this idea – the Panevėžys Kastytis Ramanauskas Nursery School – have been organizing the civic initiative for ten years.

This year, on the eve of the celebration, members of the educational communities creatively used the colors of the Lithuanian and Ukrainian flags to create photos and collages using the tricolor, the Lithuanian symbolism, and, of course, their imagination and unique ideas. Lessons were also held in educational institutions on history and citizenship, the conditions and ways in which Lithuania’s independence was restored in 1990, how it was defended, and how its consolidation, strengthening, and international recognition were sought.
