The Secretariat of the International Commission has published the English-language edition of Crimes of the Soviet Occupation Regime in Lithuania, which presents the conclusions approved by the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania.
The publication presents the historical and legal conclusions approved by the Commission concerning the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and its consequences for Lithuania.
It also includes the conclusions approved by the Commission on the First Soviet Occupation (1940–1941), based on research conducted by Dr A. Jakubčionis, Dr A. Anušauskas, Prof. A. Streikus, Dr S. Knezys, and N. Maslauskienė. These conclusions assess the processes of occupation, annexation and Sovietisation, as well as repression, deportations, the killing of military personnel and civilians, religious persecution, and the dissolution of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
The publication also presents the conclusions approved by the Commission on the first stage of the Second Soviet Occupation (1944–1953). These conclusions are based on research conducted by Dr V. Tininis, J. Starkauskas, Dr M. Pocius, Dr A. Anušauskas, Prof. A. Streikus, and Dr I. Petravičiūtė. They assess the forced mobilisation of Lithuanian residents into the armed forces of the USSR, the suppression of armed resistance, mass arrests and deportations, religious persecution, and the repressive system of the occupation regime.
