Partisan song festival „The Freedom road“ was held for the tenth time

On 25th October Druskininkai Atgimimo school hosted a partisan song festival “The Freedom road”. The festival took place for the tenth time. The partisan songs were sung by pupils from 19 Lithuanian schools and the Punsk March 11 Lyceum from Poland.

At the beginning of the event, the author of the event Mr.Gintautas Kazlauskas, former director of the Druskininkai Resistance and Deportation Museum, reminisced about the start of the festival in 2008. The festival was attended by a partisan from Dainava partisan county Juozas Jakavonis – Tigras, who sang a partisan song about love for your homeland.

300 participants and guests attended the event. The organizers of the festival were pleased that teachers and pupils arrived not only from Southern Lithuania, but also from Vilnius, Trakų Vokė, Ukmergė and Utena.

The traditional partisan song festival was organized by Druskininkai “Atgimimo” school Tolerance Education Center together with Druskininkai Resistance and Deportation Museum as well as the International Commission as a partner.
