On 5 October pupils of Kupiškis Povilo Matulionio progymnasium Tolerance Education Center and Kupiškis Lauryno Stuokos Gucevičiaus gymnasium, together with a group of the Litvaks from Israel, participated in the March of the Living in Paneriai (Vilnius) – the Honorary Ceremony for the remembrance of the Holocaust victims.
The March of the Living took place in Paneriai. Litvaks from Israel, representatives of the Lithuanian Jewish community and pupils with teachers from Kupiškis went from the Paneriai railway station to the site of massacres in Paneriai. Mr.Amir Maimon, Ambassador of Israel to Lithuania, Mr. Emanuelis Zingeris, Chairman of the International Commission and Member of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, Ms. Faina Kukliansky, President of the Lithuanian Jewish Community, Mr. Mickey Kantor, and Chairman of the Vilnia Litvaks association in Tel Aviv delivered speeches at the monument. The attendees paid tribute to the victims in a prayer, shared their memories. The group from Kupiškis presented their program. After the event, the pupils took part in an excursion in Paneriai.
