Conversations of students with pupils from Tolerance Centers on the partisan warfare

On May 15th and 22nd, students of the Faculty of History of Vilnius University, accompanied by Ingrida Vilkienė, the coordinator of the International Commission’s Education Programs, visited three Tolerance Education Centers: “Ąžuolo” gymnasium in Varėna, a gymnasium in Kalvarija and “Sūduvos” gymnasium in Marijampolė.

Students presented 2 themes to pupils: “Why did Lithuanians become partisans?” and “Foreign-born partisans”. After the students’ lectures, the pupils were presented with historical photos on the partisan warfare. The pupils were invited to review and comment on the photos.

The meetings of Vilnius University students with pupils from Lithuanian schools were organized by the International Commission Secretariat in cooperation with Vilnius University. Dainius Noreika, a lecturer at the Faculty of History of Vilnius University, encouraged the third-year students to take traineeship at the International Commission and to share their prepared material on partisan warfare with Lithuanian schoolchildren.
