Teachers listened to lectures on attitudes toward Jewish art

On 20 May a lecture was given to the teachers of the Tolerance Education Centers “Why and how did a negative attitude towards the existence of the Jewish art develop?”

A lecture on the Jewish art and a negative attitude towards the Jewish art was delivered to teachers by lecturer Dr. Vilma Gradinskaitė. The lecturer introduced the teachers not only to the prevailing approach to the Jewish art in the XVIIIth – XIXth centuries, but also explained about the educational Haskalah (Enlightenment) movement and the emerging new values of the Jewish culture. The on-line lecture was attended by teachers of various subjects.

The lecture was organized by the Secretariat of the International Commission together with the International Yiddish center of the World Jewish Congress.
