The Ambassador of Israel to Lithuania met with educational and cultural workers from Lithuania who participated in a seminar in Israel in recent years at the Yad Vashem the International School for Holocaust Studies

Yesterday (November 9, 2023) at the Kaunas Ninth Fort Museum, the Ambassador of Israel to Lithuania Hadas Wittenberg Silverstein met with educational and cultural workers from Lithuania who participated in a seminar in Israel in recent years at the Yad Vashem the International School for Holocaust Studies. International internships in Israel are organised every year by the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania and Yad Vashem the International School for Holocaust Studies.

In a pleasant meeting, the Israeli ambassador to Lithuania got to know the participants of the seminar. The participants shared the ways of applying the acquired experience that they use in their daily work and highlighted the challenges they have to face in spreading a tolerant attitude. Marius Pečiulis, the director of Kaunas Ninth Fort Museum, and Vytautas Petrikėnas, the head of the History Department, shared how the knowledge gained at the Institute of National Remembrance in Israel (Yad Vashem) was useful in museum activities. At the end of the meeting, Ingrida Vilkienė, the deputy head of the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania, handed the ambassador a symbolic lamp and wished on behalf of all the participants of the meeting that the light would overcome the darkness. These are words that are extremely significant for the war-torn state of Israel today.
